My activism largely focusses on advocating for proper safeguarding of vulnerable adults, in bell ringing and Church of England environments. This specific focus stems largely from treatment I have experienced first hand, and is supported largely by evidence I have been collecting since 2022. Since then, I have been researching and speaking to other victims of similar treatment and what I have uncovered is what I believe to be a deeply routed and systemic culture of safeguarding failures. In my case, the treatment I was subjected to was largely a result of a desire by ''The Church'' to protect an individual who had been proven to have lied, and made claims without substantiating them, the church jumping to conclusions and making decisions before the facts were available, and then instead of righting their wrongs, they chose to attack the victim, which I have sadly come to understand is typical behaviour by the Church of England in these kinds of situations.
My treatment and case is very personal, but sadly, I am not alone. I could never have imagined the amount of people who I have had the chance to speak to, whose own stories are strikingly similar. In my case, something I have found to be almost therapeutic, and perhaps the way I feel most comfortable expressing my experiences in regard to the above, is to write. The eventual plan being to publish my story, available for anyone to read, if they so wish.
